Traveling to Harbour Island is a breeze with multiple options. Most visitors fly into North Eleuthera Airport (ELH), just a 10-minute ferry ride from the island. Direct flights from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Nassau make it easy for US travelers. From the airport, take a taxi to the dock, where water taxis are ready to take you across to Harbour Island.
Golf carts are the top choice to navigate the island’s narrow streets easily. Bike rentals are also an active alternative. For short trips, taxis are an option, especially for carrying luggage or reaching specific destinations.
The Bahamian dollar (BSD) is the local currency, often pegged on a 1-to-1 basis to the U.S. dollar, which is also widely accepted. ATMs are available in Dunmore Town for easy cash access. Most restaurants, shops, and rental services accept major credit cards, though it’s helpful to carry some cash on hand for smaller vendors and tips.
